Just a quick update

Poor Will has been teething :(

He has his front teeth, and the back ones, but now the ones in the middle (incisors? aka:canines) are on their way in, and MAN has he been fussy.

Yesterday we went on a 45 minute walk around the complex. It was great - they slept pretty well after that (we came home for nap time :) )

The week in review

Well, the past 2 weeks have been pretty eventful - but we won't go into that here... *sigh*

Unfortunately, not all that has happened is good, but that's life, right?

I WILL tell you about things that ARE good :)

Like the banana bread I made this week! YUM!

I tried the recipe from Moneysavingmom.com and just added a liiiiiitle more sugar. Not a lot, just an extra 1/8 cup or so, next time I might try a little more.

I made 2 loaves and stuck em in the freezer. That is the perfect snack or breakfast in a pinch! Just a little sweet, but filling!


Will cracked me up this week, he started saying "Cheese" whenever he sees me pull out my phone! I guess he has figured out that Mommy likes to take pictures :P

I am also VERY pleased to report that Bella is now asking questions by starting with "Can I..." which is HUGE since whenever we would try to teach her, she would cry or just say no and walk away!

*sigh*

I cannot tell you how happy those two little words made me!

Well, Sunday is Mother's Day, so we will see how that goes ...

I am really looking forward to feeling special this year!

I'm THAT mom...

I was thinking about posting some great pics I took at dinner tonight and I couldn't help but wonder what some people might think...


I know, I know! Anyone who knows me would say, "What? Since when?"

And as quickly as I started to question myself, I began to think of my defense.

See...

Kids grow fast. It is a well known fact.

I am convinced that MY KIDS grow even FASTER! (lol)

And while all the blogs I read/visit have pics of the author's well-groomed kids, I am ok with not having those pics to post yet.

Take Will, for example.

He is learning to feed himself. Anyone with an "independent" toddler (because independent is a nicer way of saying difficult) knows what this stage is like.

I think back to Bella, and she made some messes, and still does...but it was cute.

I miss that...

I don't ever want to say I didn't have the chance to share with the world how much I love my (sometimes messy) kids!

I have proof they clean up nicely! Find us after Sacrament if you don't believe me :P

But this face:

THIS face, with my homemade mashed potatoes all over, and a grin from ear to ear - THAT is the face that I won't see for too much longer!

Before long, he will have mastered using his spoon. Right now, it is more like an accessory to dinner - nice to have, but optional.

I want to remember my handsome little baby, who climbs on my lap to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and thinks I am the funniest person alive!

The baby who thinks I can't see him when his head is under his blanket...

The baby who can't yet say "I love you" but shows me everyday...

I am proud to be his momma.

Oh, dear....

I know people often say, "It seemed like only yesterday I was tucking you in, and now we are planning your quince/sweet 16" ..... but really, Bella?!?!?!





I mean, don't you think it is a teensy bit early???

She just kept saying, "Pretty," and "Cinderella!"

Heaven help me when it IS actually time to plan a party like that for her!




I think I am going to stock up now on tissues. (;_;)


We did "school" today and learned what a ladybug looks like, and how to say "ladybug". We also did extremely well learning the number two.

Let's see if every number is going to be two from now on... *sigh*

So, I posted pics in my private blog because - frankly - I am too embarrassed to show what my home looked like BEFORE I cleaned, LOL!

I can't tell you how amazing it feels to have accomplished so many little things today...

I think Will might have learned "circle" - which is funny because that was ALSO Bella's first shape. He is learning things so fast!

Bella made me laugh today by asking Rudy about his glasses on his nose. I'm not sure what her exact question was, but she just talked away at dinner about hats, and pizza guys, and Rudy. :)

Speaking of Rudy, he made a comment about Will: 

"Hey Will, I think you're rubbing off on me. I'm startin' to get my SWAG back..."

To which Will's only reply was a grin and a raised eyebrow... *sigh* that boy is somethin' else!

I love how they think it is sooooooooo funny to hold Mommy's nose shut and make her sound nasally. I hope that never gets old :P

I can't wait to see what I can get done tomorrow. I think *wait for it*....I might have to leave Facebook alone quite a bit. *GASP*

I know.

I am finding myself checking my updates every time my laptop is open. It is very distracting...

I hope to post some of the pics I took of the kids tomorrow. It is late and I need to get some sleep if I want to be even the teensiest bit productive tomorrow.

Forgive me Blogger...

It has been 8 days since my last post :P

Well, I can honestly say these kids keep me on my toes!

Yesterday, Bella walks into my room at 8:09 (she finally figured out how to open her door *sigh*) and says,  "Diaper change?"

I told her it was not time to be awake yet (my fault, I stayed up waaay too late), changed her, and tucked her back in.

Meanwhile, if you leave anything with a battery unattended, Mr. Hickman-the-younger swipes it and runs off to his room to hide it!

I have found a few more blogs I want to follow. After my therapist appointment on Monday, I have a much better understanding of what I want to make priorities in my life.

...and right now running a business is NOT one.

Several people have expressed concerns about this...I am finally learning that it is ok to tell people "no" and do something because it is good for me and my family before worrying what everyone else needs/wants first.


Right now, I need to get some housework done *sigh* but that's ok. I will be back - maybe with pics later :)

Recap of the weekend

Easter was.....interesting.

Our battery died and we missed church. I feel bad for the Primary, no chorister OR pianist. :(

We did get the chance to let the kids try out the pool! It was Will's first time swimming. The little stinker went under 5 or 6 times, but each time wanted to get right back in. He figured out he could catch himself with his knees if he lost his footing - the water was about 1 1/2 ft deep. He looked so cute, and the two of them ate SEVERAL hot dogs with dinner (minus buns, apparently bread isn't tasty when you're hungry).

I am proud of Bella, today she remembered "butterfly" without needing any reminder! Now, if I could just get her to remember the number 1.

William is great when it comes to copying. Whenever you ask him a school question, his answer is usually "blue" (or "buwoooo" , as he pronounces it - so flippin' cute!) but as soon as you say the answer, he will focus on the picture and repeat the word as if trying to commit the word to memory.

It took him at least 25 minutes of coloring before he resorted to trying to eat the crayons. We are getting better! :D

I cannot express how much I love them! Oh, and Aaron. How I ever got so lucky is beyond me. He is just amazing. I really hope I can be as good of an example to our son(s) as he is going to be to our daughter(s) when it comes to what to look for in a spouse.

That was something I said to our friend the other day, you have to be the kind of man you want your daughter to marry someday.

I need to be the kind of wife to Aaron that I would want my son to find himself one day.

That said, I had another "ugh" moment today. I know I have said this before, but I really need to take better care of myself AND my family.

The word of wisdom isn't just about tea, coffee, and strong drinks...

I guess I should get some sleep soon.
